Kai Koch

Kai Koch (* 1986) studied music education at the „HfM Detmold“ and chemistry at the „Universität Paderborn“. From 2011 to 2012 he completed a master's degree in organ with the cathedral organist Thomas Schmitz at the „Musikhochschule Münster“; from 2015 to 2016 also the artistic advanced training master "Interpretation der Chormusik" (choir conductiong) with Prof. Jörg-Peter Weigle at the „Hochschule für Musik Hanns Eilser Berlin“.
After his teacher training, Kai Koch worked as a teacher in Münster and Annweiler and did his doctorate in music education with Prof. Dr. Heiner Gembris at the „Universität Paderborn“. He held teaching positions in music education and musicology at the „Musikhochschule Münster“, previously also at the universities in Paderborn and Oldenburg. In addition, he is a lecturer in the Germany-wide further education program „Musikgeragogik“ („Fachhochschule Münster“, head: Prof. Dr. Hans Hermann Wickel / Prof. Dr. Theo Hartogh) and gives lectures and workshops in the context of „senior choir conducting“. He is a member of the board of the „Deutsche Gesellschaft für Musikgeragogik e.V.“. Since 2018 Kai Koch is a professor for music education in social work at the „KSH München“.
In addition to several prizes at the „Bundeswettbewerb Komposition“, Kai Koch was awarded the „Junge Kunst im Hochstift“ in 2007 and active participation at the „2. Europäisches Chorforum für junge Komponisten“ in 2010. He won a third prize in the arrangement competition of the „chor.com“ in Dortmund in 2013. Some of his compositions and arrangements have already been published by Helbling, Ferrimontana and Impronta - Edition UG.
